About Me

My name is Guillermo D'Angelo. I help organizations turn geographic data into decisions, from national statistics to custom web maps, with Python, open-source GIS and AI. I'm a Geographer, geospatial developer & Head of Geomatics at Uruguay’s National Statistics Institute.

What I do

  • Spatial data engineering: PostGIS/Postgres pipelines, reproducible ETL, Dockerized deployments
  • Geospatial analysis in Python: statistics at national scale, census and survey geography
  • Web mapping: interactive maps and data portals
  • Open-source GIS: QGIS workflows, tooling and automation for teams

My stack

  • Analyze: Python, SQL, QGIS, ArcGIS Pro
  • Store: Postgres + PostGIS
  • Publish: Leaflet, JavaScript/CSS, Docker
  • Collaborate: Git
  • AI-assisted workflow: Claude & DeepSeek

What I'm exploring now

  • Using LLMs to clean and geocode messy addresses
  • Agentic geospatial processes
  • Open data for official statistics

I’ve worked with geographic information since 2010, building spatial data systems and, as a freelancer, custom maps and pipelines for other organizations. I combine deep expertise in the geospatial industry, open-source tools and, increasingly, AI, to make spatial analysis faster and more reliable.
